What are the maximum image/photo dimensions supported by iPhoto 9.4.3? Have Apple ever stated it anywhere? In other words, what is the maximum resolution of an image, that iPhoto can store in its library?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010) 12GB RAM

Well, basically, a friend of mine managed to import some VERY large scans (22,000 pixels in one dimension) into iPhoto, but then iPhoto crashed (automatically quit) everytime he opened it. We tried all four of the iPhoto Library First Aid options available, but none of them stopped iPhoto from repeatedly crashing.
So I was wondering, is there an official limit on the size of image iPhoto can work with?
there is no limit that I know of - but an image that large could crash due to lack of memory - that is a LOT of pixels

Yeah. It is a lot. Interesting thing is, an image of that size doesn't crash the Finder, or Preview. They're both fine with it.
Different - iPhoto is not a photo viewer - it is a photo manager - and at a minimum it is creating a proview of the image and a thumbnail for the image as well as adding atributes to the database - anyway that is just a guess

I've not seen anything official, but I recall someone on here finding that images in excess of 50 megapixels caused issues a few years ago.
