Q: i pod has a version 2.2.1 and says it needs to update but it will not update
My daughter got a used Ipod and it has a version 2.2.1 and everytime time you try to download an app or music it says you need to update to at least a 4.3. It will not update at all. I tried to restore it and both times it says it timed out. Any suggestions on what might fix it? or is this ipod no good?
Thanks!

The iPod your daughter has would either be a first or second generation unit, neither of which will run iOS 4.3 or later. There are still apps available that will work on iOS 4.2.1, which if the unit is second-generation it will run, or even iOS 3.1.3, the last version of iOS a first-gen iPod touch can run (the upgrade for that unit is not free, but is still available the last I heard). You can determine which model the iPod is via this information:

If she really wants to run apps that require iOS 4.3 or later, then she'll need a newer iPod touch.
Regards.
