Q: Can't open Aperture

When rying to open Aperture on my Macbbok I keep getting this advisory:

There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/TOSHIBA External HD/Aperture Library.aplibrary”.

and the window then tells me to quit Aperture.

This problem began only a week ago and I have no idea why it now fails to work.

Anyone have any information that might help?

I have over 20,000 (yes .. twenty thousand) photos on this external hard drive

and need to recover them ASAP.

Thank you in advance if you can help.

I use a Macbook Pro , OSX 10.7.5

I use Aperture 3 but can't tell you the program number because I can't get it to

run long enough to get the info from the "about" page.

iMac 20", Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Here's another one for you .....

I checked the library info and it tells me there is only the 90.9 mb of data onboard.

So, i went to the disc utility and here's what I found:

    Page-01.jpeg

You can see there is a cart load of files (382,933 to be exact) on that HD. The only folder showing on that HD is the Aperture library .... all others that were there have been transferred off.

254 GB is a lot more than 90 MB. So, how do I get to them?

If you can come up with the answer, you'll be doing me a great service.

    Thanks       ...M...
