Q: Xserve Freezes every hour or two
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to set up a late 2006 Xserve and seem to be having some issues. When I first started using it, it experienced extreme video distortion ("noise," triangular sections of video missing, strange lines, etc). I checked the logs and saw the following crash report:

I saw that the previous user had left 5GB of memory in the Xserve, and that it was installed in the wrong order (ie: not in consecutive slots), so I removed two 512MB sticks and installed the 4 1GB sticks in the correct slots.
After this, the machine ran normally for long enough for me to install the OS to one of my hard drives and install all available updates (now running OS X 10.7.5). When I work on the server now, however, I can work normally for about an hour or two on average before the system will freeze completely. I'll get the spinning wheel and a very small amount of distortion (a small black line here or there) OR the display will simply cut to black. In both situations the system is completely unresponsive except for recognizing mouse cursor movement.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Xserve, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
