recently purchased songs don't play properly.. what's wrong?

i bought my ipod classic in 2011 and now recently purchased songs and whole albums will only play the first 20 seconds or so if download has failed once but the same tracks are perfectly fine when played on my iphone or in itunes on my laptop. don't know what's wrong with my ipod or what to do.. please help!
