Q: iPad 4 with no sim, can I still use airdrop?

I have an iPad 4 with no SIM card installed. I cannot find airdrop, is it because I don't have the SIM card? I searched, checked restrictions, privacy but airdrop doesn't show up. I have Bluetooth on and use my home wifi.

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 7.0.4, No SIM card installed

AirDrop shouldn't require a SIM since it doesn't work via a cell connection. Are you certain you have a fourth-generation iPad?

Varjack, I'm pretty sure it's a 4, it's at least a 3. It does have cellular capabilities.

You need to confirm what you have. See:

The 3rd-generation iPad does not support AirDrop.

That would appear to be a 3rd-gen, and again that does not support AirDrop. You can confirm the model via the web page I posted the link to above.

Thanks varjak, my mistake. I thought I bought a 4, must have picked up the wrong box when I went to pay. Too bad, will have to keep this one now.
