iMovie 10- join clips with no transition & where's the toolbar?

I'm using iMovie 10. I've imported an mp4 video that's been edited but I want to take out a section of the video (I know how to do that) which leaves me with more than one clip and a transition that I don't want. How do I stitch them together so it is one fluid clip. The video is short, less than 2min. Also where did all the toolbar functions go? I don't see a toolbar at all. I know some if it has moved to the bottom left of my screen. Thanks to anyone for their input.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

I'm not sure I've understand exactly - it seems to me you just put the movie in the timeline, remove unwanted section and share the project a s a single shorter movie.

Actually you can also do all this with Quicktime 10.

The user interface of iMovie 10 has been changed radically. You need to study the help files to find your way around. Most of the functionality is still there but in a different place.

You're right, I did put it in my timeline, removed the unwanted sections but it doesn't flow well. There seems to be a bit of a jump where a transition would go but I'm trying to avoid using a transition. I have spent some time now navigating my way through the features and have watched a few tutorials but none cover exactly what I'd like to do. Thanks Geoff.

Out of curiosity, why don't you want to use transitions?

Transitions can help smooth out cutting from one picture to another.

Jump cuts, which is what you have now, are, as the name suggests, "jumpy".

Jump cuts sounds about right, I wasn't sure what to call it. I guess you'd have to see the clip to know why I don't want to use transitions. I'll keep playing around with it & incorporate a transition. The clip is of a property that was for sale so it starts out panning the building then I cut out a small section (2seconds) and it then jumps right to address so because it all happens so close to the beginning of the video I was hoping I could just stitch it all together without using transitions. The other clip is at the end so I was able to transition out easily enough.
