Jan 3, 2014 5:05 PM in response to Tina198755by Dominick Issi,I believe you're looking at the QT Player icon vs QT Player 7 (Pro) ... which I'll just call QT Pro. Just drag your QT Pro icon into the "Dock" alongside the QT Player icon. I've actually gone into the various types of video and selected QT Pro to open it:
Select video icon>"Get Info">Select "Open with:" & choose Quicktime Player 7>then go to "Change All" button below it.
This will ensure all of your videos of that type will open with QT Player 7 (Pro). I do this for all my .MOV, .MP4, .AVI, MKV files. You only need to select ONE of them and it'll then work for ALL of them. The ONLY problems I've ever had are with some .MKV files with sounds/subtitles. For those instances I use the App VLC with works quite well.

The "Dock" icon does not change. The registration key simply "unlocks" the editing functions already built into the free QT 7 but which are deactivated without the key. To see if the app is properly key for "Pro" use, simply load a file into the app and check to see if the export, editing, and "Show Properties" menu options are working.
I was really hoping to somehow get all my old videos on my last computer to work on this new one and it's becoming more clear that it most likely won't work.
Keying the QT 7 app for "Pro" use does not add any new codec support to the system. However, QT 7 does have a more open architecture which allows you to add codec and container support that will allow you to play many files that are not supported natively on the system.
