How can I obtain older version of the Kindle App for use on an earlier version of the iPad?

I have a first generation of the iPad and want to read Kindle purchases from Amazon. The current Kindle App is only compatibile with the later iOS 6.0 or greater. The first generation of the iPad will only support up to iOS 5.1.1. Thus, the currently available Kindle App does not work for the iPd 1. Is the earlier version of the Kindle App available anywhere that I could download to my iPad?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

If you try and download the new app from your iPad 1, when you select install, if there is still an older version/s of the app on Apple's servers, there will be a prompt that pops up asking you if you want to install the last compatible version of that app.

Try it to see if it will let install the older Kindle app.

Make sure your iPad is updated to iOS 5.1.1.

You're wrong. I am on my iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and it will NOT let me download Kindle app for the iPad from the store. It does not ask if I want to download an earlier version - it just tells me I need IOS6 which of course I can't get.

You need to download the app to your computer through iTunes. Then, when you try to download it to your iPad, you should be offered the option to download a version compatible with your iPad if the developer offers one.

Another work around is if you have iTunes on your computer, you can download the recent iOS app to your iTunes iOS app tab/area.

Then, on your iPad1, try and download/install the same app, then, it should pop up a message asking you if you want to install the latest/last compatible version.

There is no sync-ing of the iPad necessary.

Use the iOS App Store App on your iPad and search for the Kindle app and then try to re-install this app.

You do not sync your iPad to the Mac.

All you should be doing is dowmloading the recent iOS app version of Kindle through iTunes on your computer and that's it.

After that, eveything else is done via your iPad, alone.
