I'm new to editing...

And I'm also new to FCPX. Is it possible to edit my video after it has been rendered i.e. add music?

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Yes. Rendering simply means that FCPX ouputs rendered video to play instead of the preview.

Just to add a heads-up to mishmumken's excellent advice and link, bear in mind that Izzy's tutorial – as good as it is – is using an earlier version of FCPX. So even though the editing techniques are still applicable, the UI and media organization has changed quite a bit. To supplement that part of the learning process, so a search and you'll find a lot of other free tutorials on the newest version.
