No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key iMac 2007

Hey,

I was fed up of my Windows partition on my iMac as it was really slow so I deleted it using the bootcamp assistant on mac. It deleted succesfully and everything was fine. Then I switched off the mac and restarted my computer. The white screen and the chime came up. Then the screen turned black and the words in the title appeared on the screen. I searched on this issue quite a bit on the web and many people suggested holding the alt button during the chime which enables you to select which partition to boot up on. Unfortunately, even when I hold the alt key, the same black screen with the words in the title appear. The keyboard is the standard iMac keyboard and it works properly with other computers.

Can anyone please shed some light on this issue?

Thanks.
