On October 22, 2013, Apple announced that its Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps are available free with every qualifying new Mac. If you purchased a qualifying Mac on or after October 1, 2013, that did not include Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, you can download them free by following the steps below.
After you installed Mavericks, the App Store should automatically download the new Numbers. Are you logged into the App Store with your Apple ID?
That said, note that the new version of Numbers no longer supports many features that were available in Numbers '09. If your documents used those features, you may lose information, and/or ease of editing and control of layout.
