My iPod Nano will not pair under bluetooth 4 to a Renault Clio 4 with Media Nav. It is recognised but the system refuses to transmit any songs. Any suggestions?

I am having a similar problem but with a nano gen 5 connecting via usb to Renault Megane 15 plate. I have just spent a good part of the afternoon with the Renault service manager and the only suggestion was that the Renault software version did not recognise the software version on my nano (which is up to date)
