Q: Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina slow wifi connect waking after sleep

Maybe you have several open programmes that need to close.  I suggest that rather than wake it up from sleep you click on the Apple (Top Left) and shut down.   Force Quit in the same drop down pane would show you what is open, but it appears to me that if it's been sleeping by just closing the lid, you need to give it a chance and shut down then restart.  Simple as that. 

You might also look at Safari, your default Internet programme - click on the name SAFARI next to the Apple logo, and below you will see Reset Safari.  This will clear all the sites you've been viewing and will put it back to the clean state it was when you first opened it.

I thank you for your fix Eric (same one that worked for samuel98331) but I now have to perform this every day (I have not figured out yet what causes the issue but it may be every time my mac goes to sleep) unless I want to use molasses-slow wifi.  I hope apple sees this because the problem is replicable and quite specific.

I tried all the above recommendations and the one that worked for me was to TURN OFF BLUETOOTH and my wifi connects quickly and as expected! Running Mavericks 10.9.1 on Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013.

The OS X update 10.9.2, appears to fix the issue on my MBP retina 2013.  I'm now getting similar speeds as my other wifi devices.

Hi there I'm also having the issue with my mac book and I have done all the above it appears that switching the Bluetooth off does indeed solve the issue. But I use a Magic Mouse and keyboard set so this isn't an option for me.  I have taken it into store and also been on the phone for over an hour but they advise that it's not an issue - mine takes up to 2 mins to connect to the wifi.

If I switch the Bluetooth off it conects instantly, if I switch wifi on and off and it conects instantly 

Anyone got any thoughts ??

I think I may have just fixed this ! ! ! ! !

My mac had been rebuilt from scratch and yet the issue was still there so all the steps above didnt work. ]

However, what I did was go to Bluetooth and deselect the two options about opening bluetooth assistant at startup if no keyboard or mouse is detected.

Still testing but all seems to be resolved here

try not to close the email application completely. Just let it run in the background. That's how I "fix" it. hope it would help.

What worked for me on my iMac:

Network - Advanced - Wifi tab: preferred networks contains the list of networks (also the networs saved via iPhone and iPad, this list is synced). I set my home wifi network as the first wifi network in the list. Now when waking up from sleep the wifi connection is back much faster (5 seconds instead of 25).
