Merging Bookmarks

I'm not sure if it's possible to do this other than manually but I have about 250 bookmarks on my i-mac and a further 308 on my i-Book. Some are the same but a lot of them are different.
Is there any easy way to merge the 2 so that I have the same bookmark list on both Macs?
I guess copying the plist is no good as I imagine one will over ride the other...or am I missing something?
I use Bookdog to organise my lists but I'm not aware of anything in there that will help.
Any thoughts, hints or ideas greatly appreciated.

I am not aware of any easy or automatic way to merge or sync the two sets of bookmarks, but here are a couple ideas for merging.

You could export the bookmarks from one copy and import them in the other. You would then have to organize the bookmarks in the second copy. You could then copy the Bookmarks.plist from the second copy to the first one.

You could use Bookdog and a secondary browser. Using Bookdog, you could make Firefox have the same bookmarks as the first copy of Safari. You could then copy the second Safari's Bookmarks.plist to the first one and then use Bookdog to merge the bookmarks in the first Safari and Firefox, and then copying the first Safari's plist to the second.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I have managed to do it as you suggested by using another browser, Camino in this case.
I will now sort out all the bookmarks on the i-Book and use Bookdog to tidy them up and then copy the plist on to the i-Mac. The I can align the various browsers up as well.
Still a bit of work to do but has saved me hours. Thanks again.

I've been trying to gain some insight in following your discussion. I am trying to export and then import my bookmark files as well from my old PowerBook to my new MacBook and Safari doesn't seem to be able to do this. I saw one person's posting of:

Safari Bookmark Exporter 1.1

And now I am seeing Bookdog.

I am using a Firewire to transfer data. What is the best way for me to import my old Safari bookmarks to my new Safari?
