Cannot connect to another mac from finder sidebar

I am unable to connect to my MBP from my Mac Mini (both on the same network) via the sidebar. When I click "Connect As", enter Registered User and pwd, it seems like it does not like the password. But I am able to screen share and connect via AFP and SMB using the same Registered User credential. Both computers are running OSX Mavericks.

I even tried connecting using apple id and it fails to connect.

I have checked the Sharing settings and the Screen Sharing settings

Does anyone know what the problem could be?
