Jan 4, 2014 9:44 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby randy139,I can't seem to find anyone with the same situation in the Microsoft forums. There are threads about how to activate Outlook, but that's not what I want. I deleted the program out of the applications folder and found a couple of pref files to delete also. I'll see if it keeps doing it going forward.

Jan 30, 2014 8:14 PM in response to ellenwood32by Templeton Peck,Regardless of whether or not an answer can be found on their forums, an Apple forum for compatiblity issues with Windows is not the best place to ask a question about issues with a Mac version of a MS product. So stick with the MS forums. they are your best bet.

Jan 30, 2014 9:34 PM in response to ellenwood32by randy139,I learned you can try command-Q and that may dismiss it, at least temporarily, and let you continue to use your machine.

Jan 30, 2014 9:37 PM in response to Templeton Peckby randy139,★HelpfulI respect your level 9 rating, are you an Apple employee or just patrolling the forum as a volunteer. If you had this problem on a recurring basis and could find help NO WHERE ELSE, you might be desperate enough to ask for the good help of others here. And then you might be skooled by a volunteer patrolman, and it wouldn't be helpful at all. Or maybe that wouldn't happen to you...

Apr 17, 2014 1:28 PM in response to randy139by LoisinCambridge,Command Q will definitely allow you to exit the program.
I had this problem and called Apple support. Once you get out of Outlook, move the "O" icon to to trash can. This at least gets it out of the dock so you can't accidentally open it, which is what I had done.
It is a mystery to me why the icon is even there since Outlook doesn't come with Office 2011.

Aug 28, 2015 6:58 AM in response to randy139by Nancy in Vancouver,Thank you for your help. This worked. I think the problem may have originated from an Outlook calendar invitation. I have MS Office 2011 Home and Student and Outlook is not included.
