How do I retrieve my iCloud password if my iCloud is no longer in use?

I have an iCloud account on my iPhone 4S which doesn't work any more. I'm my ipad I use another account, I would like to change my phones iCloud to my ipad account but I can't log out of my old iCloud on my iphone as the account does not work any more. Is there any way I can log out?
