You posted in the iPad forum instead of the iPhone forum. To get answers to your question, next time post in the proper forum. See https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa I'll request that Apple relocate your post.
Cheers, Tom 😉
A reset is accomplished by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
ChrisJ203,
Am new to this whole Apple thing. Bought a refurbished phone through a wireless carrier. It was supposed to have been "reset", but it wasn't. The previous owner's account and other info is still there. Tried several times/ways to reset, both through tech support from the carrier and tried online solutions. Still ca't delete her info because it asks for passwords. Have contacted previous owner and she, needless to say, was surprised. She returned the phone last Nov and doesn't have/remember heer passwords. Any way you can help/advise? P.S. Not sure, even, if this is will get to you. How long do I have to wait for a reply?
Well, I've seen it. Luckily for you I happened to be online. We are users like you and this is all volunteer.
Without the previous owner's Apple ID and password, you will not be able to activate the phone. It is an accomplishment that you were even able to contact the previous owner. They can remove the device from their account by logging into iCloud on a computer. If they cannot remember their passwords for the account, they can go to iforgot.apple.com and get them reset.
Again, if they cannot remove the device from their account, then you will never be able to activate the phone for yourself. It would be useless. This support document outlines what the former owner needs to do. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515
Thanks so much for the quick reply. The phone has been activated, we use. We were getting her emails, so I dropped her an email, that's how we hooked up. I will contact her with your info and see where it leads. Thanks, again.
