Will my iPhoto on macbook auto save my iCloud pictures as they come in.. as they are appearing in events as monthly events..
or should i save them to an event myself

If you set the iPhoto preference to do that it will - if they are in monthly events then they are permanetly imported to your iPhoto library - you so not need to do any more
