Not quite clear - did you buy just the Superdrive or an iMac with one? If it's just the Drive, does it work with your Mac?
FYI, most any brand of DVD drive/burner works with a Mac and is less expensive.
i bought the imac and the superdrive both from apple-all i wanted to know is should i have shopped for a better superdrive?/i understand that the apple superdrive dosn't burn bluray among other things. dave
That decision is up to you; personally I prefer tray loading drives as they are usually more reliable than slot drives. I've had an external drive for years (even though my iMac has the built in Superdrive). They are also usually less expensive; but if what you bought works, then don't worry about it and just use it.
Yes you did a good purchase. The cost is reasonable, it takes up little space, is directly plugable into your iMac via a USB cable, and it has the Apple Symbol of quality. I purchased one myself when I bought my iMac and I haven't regretted my decision yet. The only problem I had initially was to try to operate it Black Apple side up.
