I'm just getting going exploring X and I'm concerned about an audio issue. When using audio tracks, the audio freezes into a high pitch whine and fades out rendering all playback or input non existent. This forces me to reset the sample rate and it's fine. Problem is it's happening often and with barely anything in the project...even as far as cutting out on input monitoring a guitar as the only track. Tried several different projects..old ones. New ones. Same results.. Even a couple times the dreaded System Overload message showed up. I'm from the days of Logic 8 when this would happen at 40 midi tracks on an older Xeon Intel macpro but on a brand new i5 iMac 27" with 24gb ram? Um no... So I'm wondering if logic x is either optimized with improved Core Audio and or doesn't play nicely with my MOTU Ultralite which awesome and saving grace in the past. Any thought? Incidentally this did also happen when I loaded up an old midi only project from logic 8 but I assumed that was because several plugins were missing.
Any thoughts? It's pretty darn annoying that my audio crashes every three minutes just testing basic functions a of the software
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 24Gb RAM

Just thought I'd update the progress if anyone is experiencing the same thing. From my research it makes no difference which audio interface you have, it does the same thing. I saw that the latest driver update for my motu does not go as far as 10.9 so that's potentially an issue, however, in the past five year on my old macpro, I never once updated a driver after OS upgrade and never had a problem.
The cool part is I spent several hours working with a next level engineer with Apple today and found some interesting things. While there is much talk about the fusion drive being the culprit of these problem I don't believe it is the case as some users have had the same issues without the fusion drive. The culprit seems to be mavericks. As she told me and I quote, "mavericks is still very new and a complete redisigned OS and in the early stage still very unstable unlike mountain lion which was the most stable we have had. The main overhaul idea for mavericks was to mimic ios7 and provide better cloud integration of devices" so, with that I'm really thinking it's a mavericks bug and she sent me the capture data software which I used and sent back three files of three crashes so they can actually see what happened and hopefully correct the issue. We basically came to the realization that going back to mountain lion maybe be the best bet until mavericks is improved as logic x works on it, but I might not be able to do it just yet. She also went on to say that the firmware is different for mavericks as well, so unless I get the reverted to the previous version as well, simply changing OS might not work if it's a firmware thing. So I will let them and she run their tests and talk to her again on Tuesday before making a decision
For what it's worth, she works for Apple and is extremely versed and knowledgeable and she won't use mavericks....even on her office machine they are still running mountain lion... That tells me a lot. Just sayin

Jan 5, 2014 1:30 PM in response to TheRigereby Mark Vona,Thanks for the reply,
Very frunstrating. This is the type of info I've been getting all through the process of trying to get Pro Tools 11 working on my mac and with my Roland Juno-G synth, lots of compatability issues. I had to take the synth in for a repair (some of the buttons weren't working consitently) as soon as it is back I am going to attempt one more time to get things working.
I still want to see if I can work through the Audio MIDI steup and the sytem preferences and get some reults. Maybe I'm just banging my head against a wall.
You would think the people at Apple would consider the many ways the customer are using these computers before they publish an update.
