which is the lastest version of osx is it lion or mountain lion??
Mac Pro (Early 2009)
The order is Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and then Mavericks
Adding that > Apple - OS X Mavericks is free.

If you decide to upgrade, check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
