Nest thermostat won't recognize wifi password W2 error code
Hooking up a Nest thermostat and I've entered my wifi password for my network but it says "failed to connect" Contact: Nest.com/W2. This basically dumps me here. Any ideas? Thanks.

The network names must conform to SMB network standards.
If your wireless name is
Fred's wireless airport time capsule.
It will never work.
You need a network name like TC24ghz and TC5ghz
I strongly recommend different names for the two bands.
Set the security to wpa2 personal and the password to 10 character pure alphanumeric mix of upper, lower case and numbers.
If it fails test with no security at all.. Not all wireless is compatible.
Try fixing the channels for 2.4ghz try.. 11, 6, 1 in that order.
Called Apple support and they helped me shorten my network password. The Nest worked with the shorter (10 digits vs 21) network password. I didn't have to rename the network. Thanks.
This worked for me too. A 12 character WPA password was failing to work on the Nest Protect. Changing the WiFi password to a new 10 character password solved the problem :)
