When I opened FCPX it updated files and then asked me if I wanted to save my old files or move them to trash. To play it safe, I said to save them. A new window popped up and said if I want to "relink" my files, I can do that at another time. Is this why my Project Library (film reel icon) disappeared???
Sounds like you have FCP X 10.1?
Things have changed in this new version.
The Film Reel or Projects holder you refer to is now gone.

Thank you for the manual. I've started to read through it... Very nervous about moving files around though, but I'll take my time and read thoroughly. Just wish Lynda.com had a tutorial on this new version... Well, thanks though. This is more than I had flying solo, so it's definitely helped. :-) Happy New Year.

The manual from Alchroma combined with the article from BenB really cleared up the whole new FCP 10.1 file management reorganization! It'll take a little getting used to, but I'm sure it won't take long for me to start navigating with ease again. Thank you both so very much!

When it comes to moving stuff around, juggling Libraries, Projects, drives etc. it's just seems NEAR foolproof.

One thing you can say about the developers they sure do not let the grass grow under their feet, but for a newbie user, it's a challenge.
