how do i sync my iphone with apple tv

Hi there, ive recently recieved a Apple TV Box and i am having trouble conncting any of my iopd's and iphone's with it as it doesnt have the "air play" Option on the pull up (ioS7) Menu on the main screen, i have turned on home sharing on my itunes on my computer and it still is not connecting any ideas or ways around it where i am able to connect my apple products with the apple tv box?
