Why do I get error messages playing HD videos?

I got an error message, that read that the video couldn't be played on my display. When I first downloaded the video, it played just fine for the first week or so. But then, this mornig, I got this message, that said that it couldn't be played on my display. I then deleted it, and redownloaded the video. It then started playing just fine. What do you think went wrong?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), iTunes

Note: Depending on your computer's hardware limitations, you may be unable to purchase, rent, or view HD content from the iTunes Store.

If you are trying to view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and support HDCP.
