Q: New Final Cut Pro in Older Mac Pro 2010
Using the new final cut pro - will it benefit from two video cards in a 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 ? New FCpro is optimized for 2 Vcard in the new Pro. Will optimization work in older Mac pro with 2 Vcards? Curious to boost performance in the older system. Anyone know about this yet?

Final Cut Pro X 10.1 features "optimized playback and rendering using dual GPUs in the new Mac Pro." Dual GPUs definitely make a performance difference in the 10.1 version of FCPX.
The improvements could be even more dramatic when we test the 2013 Mac Pro which likely has slightly different GPU drivers than the ones on our Mavericks 10.9.1 boot drive.
As you can see, Motion 5.1 showed dramatic improvement with both single and dual AMD GPUs. ... dual Radeon HD 5770s and got render times only slightly slower than dual 7970s Motion 5.1 showed dramatic improvement with both single and dual AMD GPUs. You need the latest version of Final Cut and Motion to take advantage of dual GPUs. |
