Can one app cause my iphone 5s to corrupt the system (or crash)?

I recently took my iphone 5s to the genius bar, they told my that an app is causing the problem and they want me to restore from itunes then install each app one by one to see which one is causing the problem.

I have already restored and start as new iphone.
