Set to check mail every minute but it's not

Hi,

My Apple Mail has been working fine regarding send/receive for years now. Recently though, after upgrading to Mavericks the Mail setting decided to change itself to search for mail every hour instead of every minute. This is my work computer so I need to know exactly when clients email me. After a few weeks of frustration I finally found out that the setting was changed so I changed it back to 1 minute.

Unfortunately the program still seems really intermittent. Sometimes it will load an email as soon as it has been sent (I know when an email comes through because my iPhone goes off) and other times my iPhone will tell me a have an email and it doesn't load into Apple Mail on my computer for over an hour.

I've checked the connection doctor and all is working fine. My mail comes through Google Apps and if I sign into Gmail then I can see everyting but it's just loading to Mail that's delayed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Shona

I'm having the same problem now with Google Apps IMAP account. I was testing Mavericks 10.9.1 for a while on an external drive before installing on my internal drive and gmail seemed to be working okay. Then after doing the install on my internal drive it began to exhibit the same symptoms as you describe. I have had my Mail General Preference "Check for new messages" set to Automatic and to a time interval but that doesn't affect the delay of some messages (detected by my phone as with you).

Today for example I started my laptop which starts Mail, received a mail message on my phone but not in Mail. Interval setting currently Automatic. I quit and restarted Mail and the message was delivered. Then I started getting messages at the same time as my phone. Yesterday it took 30-40 minutes for a message to be delivered.

I'm not aware of anything else to try but I'll obviously be monitoring this and will post if I learn anything worthwhile.

I referred to the suggested thread, but it seems their issue is with their Mac OS. I have both a Mac and an iPhone 5, but have recently been having issues recieving emails on my phone.

For the past month or so, my phone has not been fetching emails. It only does so when I manually go into the application and force it. This is of extreme inconvinience because I'm not able to attend to my emails in a time appropriate manner. All 4 of my email accounts are through google. I'm not sure where the issue lies, but has anyone found a resolution or have any suggestions as to how I can fix this? I did a hard reset on my phone, and that worked for 2 days, and it's since gone back to not pushing/fetching emails.
