My alesis iO2 express interface can be used for output and works fine but logic can't seem to understand that a microphone is connected to it and is working. It works and records fine in GarageBand but logic won't pick up any signal on it. I've tried everything and nothing works

A quick browse through this forum will show that you are not alone. It seems that the latest update of LPX has broken several things including the one you are seeing.

hey bro, im having the exact same problem. i have an io2 express but it wont pick up my mic. its driving me crazy
There is a workaround for the issue, but I haven't seen Alesis users yet report succes with it. Or failure.
The workaround:
Quit Logic.
Open Audio MIDI Setup, it can be found in Applications>Utilities.
In AMS, open the Audio window.
In the audio window, click on the + box, and select Create Aggregate Device:
Now select this device in the list on the left, and on the right hand choose the in- and outputs of your interface, AND the built in microphone:
Next, important, choose the Built-in Microphone as the Master Clock.
Now you can quit AMS (no need to Save), start Logic and select the Aggregate Device as In- and output.
This is reported working for some M-Audio interfaces and some USB mics (Blue Yeti). I have tested it with two TI chip based 16 bit interfaces (Ion and Behringer UCA200), which did not work.
Reports about succes or failure are welcome in this thread.
Report it to Apple officially - apparently they don't check message boards. These devices are class compliant so should work perfectly, it is a Logic issue.
Erik, just tried it with the Alesis io2 express and unfortunately no joy. Kudos to you for the idea though!

Try the USB Codec as the Master Clock. (you can't do this on the fly, after making these changes restart the computer.)
If you have a digital input, add that and make it the master clock, restart the computer.
I have no option to add USB codec, doesn't show up in any list. Am I overlooking something here?

Sorry, what does show up.
What I'm saying is try different devices as the master clock in the aggregate device, save and restart the Mac after every try.
Probably won't do any good but always worth a try.
Can't connect iO2 express interface, tried everything. Someone please help
