Getting weird cracking echo while using midi interface

Using a Line 6 UX1 midi interface and I'm getting a weird cracking echo that only happens when it strum my instrument (happens on my guitars and bass). Have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried different chords. Midi interface comes with its own amp modeling software which does not cause echo, so the issue has to lie with Garageband. Any help?
