How to stop iMessage from popping up on computer?

I just set up iCloud between my phone and computer. How do i turn off iMessage on my computer so that it doesn't pop up on there whenever I receive a message? I'd prefer it just go to my phone. thanks!

Easy fix! Go to System Preferences - General - Uncheck the box next to "Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud Devices"

Done! : )

Hi jenna,

You can turn off the Notifications for Messages on the Mac by going to System Preferences>Notifications>Message and clicking on the "None" option. This will prevent anything from popping up on the screen when you receive messages.

However, if you simply don't want messages on your Mac at all, then you can open the Messages app and sign out of your account altogether.

Cheers,
