have a macbook 13inch ( mid 2009 ) , I would like to stream video from my macbook to my HD television . Can you tell me the correct adapter or cable that i need , ( specific to my model ) thabkyou .

Hi, I don't mean to "jack" this post, but your answer was not relevant to the asker's question. The port you mentioned (mini-DVI) is not available on the asker's MBP model. He/she specified that their model was the 13-in Mid-2009 version, which only contains the mini displayport for tv connection (the one you ironically specified NOT to use, lol).

OK, this was obviously shaun_uk's post originally and I previously didn't want to "jack" it, but since you chose to research and quote said research, I feel the need to do just that - especially since I know what I have and what I don't have, and you're just going by someone else's words and pictures. Your info - as even you personally mentioned before your referenced quote - refers to the WHITE MacBook. I own the ALUMINUM MacBook Pro. Even though they are both Mid-2009 models, they are two completely different machines. Here is the reference point, since you obviously need proof:

Granted, neither one of us knows whether shaun's laptop is white or aluminum (and for that matter whether it's a MB or a MBP), hopefully he now has enough info to get the supplies he needs.

Depends on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI. You'll need a Mini-DVI (Not Mini DisplayPort) adapter and a cable from that to your TV. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)
You'll also need audio cables to the TV if you use VGA, DVI, or Composite using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs.
The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. Check your TV manual though to see if it might have audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
The Early and Mid 2009s with the A1181 case have the Mini-DVI ports. It's the Late 2009 White unibody that has the MiniDisplay Port.
