unknown shared pc on finder

I have this problem, too. And it creeps me out although it shows connection failed.

Can somebody help me about this concern?

This can be pinpoint with unplugging one by one wi-fi devices in your location one by one to see which one is causing it.

Now days with all of the new internet of things devices this issue will become even more common.

That device showing could easily be a printer or a thermostat.

I also have an unfamiliar PC shared to my device and an unfamiliar external hard drive on my device that will not allow me to eject. I followed the steps but cannot figure out what the source is to my issue.

Had a pc show up in my shared folder. What worked for me: 1) Tried going to Shared>Options and making sure are sharing options are off and "Share files and folders using SMB" was clicked off (you may have to toggle it).

2) if that doesn't work, it is possible there is a PC device or printer on your wifi network. I first tried disconnecting the printer or any devices that used the wifi that are not Macs, and then…

3) I thought "We're a Mac family, there's no freaking PC on our network?" until the wife reminded me that the kids had bought home some school notebook computers; PC based! I went into them and disabled their sharing capabilities and cut them off. The shared icon went away and so far hasn't come back. Hope this helps.

I had something like this a month or so back where a Guest User suddenly appeared from nowhere on startup.

Have a look in System Preferences | Sharing and see if the Shared PC appears there and if you can, turn it off there too.

Disconnect or turn off all the shared printers on your network. Does it go away?

Hold down the command key and drag it out of the sidebar.

So you see this mystery PC when File Sharing is turned off, but it goes away when File Sharing is turned on. Is that correct?

The mystery PC is something on your network. My guess is that it's your router, which is set up as a file or print server.
