Howto backup photos from iPhone to iPad without internet access?

In a couple of weeks I will be on a 2 weeks vacation and I do not want to take too much of my gear with me. I will take my iPhone (ios7), which will be used as a camera and I would like to back-up the pictures that I take onto another device, preferably my iPad (air).

So here comes my question: how can I backup the pictures from my iPhone to my iPad, without any internet connection?

Seems like there is no way to do this, which would force me to take the Macbook with me as a backup device (itunes) instead of the iPad.

Any creative suggestions? Thanks, -pl

Thanks for your answer, but I think this (lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter) will not work with my iPhone.

I prefer the App based solution, which seems to fit (nearly) perfectly.

Cheers, -pl

BTW, it would be perfect, if you could use an ad-hoc-wifi to connect the iPhone with the iPad, but it seems it doesn't.

Just connect your iPhone to your computer. Once it has detected, Open iTunes and select the "Photos" tab. Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top. From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library. Then just select the photos you want to transfer and drag them to your PC to backup photos from iPhone. And then you can also transfer photos from iPhone to iPad via iTunes.
