how do I restore my iphone without loosing everything? My phone was backupd today

when I tried to update my iPhone I got this message "iTunes has detecked an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes" .How do I restore my iphone 4s without loosing everything? My phone is dead.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.3
