Cant delete iCal calendar

I subscribed to a calendar a couple years ago but it is no longer relevant and I want to delete it from my list of calendars in iCal. I keep trying to delete it, but after a couple of minutes it reappears. How can I really delete this calendar? Is there a way to "unsubscribe" from subscribed calendars, other than the "delete" function? If I have calendars connected with my iPone via iCloud, do I have to delete it on both devices?

Hey FH678,

Thanks for the question. Let’s check to see where this subscribed calendar is located. To do so, right click on the calendar name in the sidebar, and choose “Get Info”:

User uploaded file

If the “Location” of the calendar is set to something other than “On my Mac”, go ahead and change it. Once the subscribed calendar is stored locally on your Mac, quit and reopen the Calendar application and attempt to Delete the calendar once more.

Hey FH678,

Thanks for the follow up and additional information. Is the calendar in question located under a “iCloud” section in the sidebar? If so, let’s try deleting the calendar from iCloud.com.

After you sign in and click on Calendars, click the “Edit” button at the bottom left of the sidebar, then the minus sign next to the calendar in question.

Thanks for the additional suggestions, but no go. The calendar is in fact under the icloud heading rather than subscriptions, which I hadn't noticed before. But the same thing happens after going to iCloud.com and deleting the calendar there: the calendar reappears after a few seconds. It's not a real big deal, but I'd prefer to be able to delete the calendar from the list. All the troubleshooting articles seem to be about calendars NOT appearing. I did try turning off Calendars in my system preferences, as one article suggests, but when it was turned back on, the problem persists.
