Can't receive gmails

I just created a new gmail account. I can send messages using the new email address but I can't receive any. What is wrong?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Thank you for the question. I know Gmail has implemented some security features, such as Two Step Verification and Unlock Captcha, that mimic this behavior. I see this issue more related to iOS devices. However, try the steps in the first article below. You will need to delete the account from the Mac prior to processing these steps.
