AppleTV 2
No.
ok but how do i get them onto it because currently i only have 5 purchased songs on it and the rest of my music wasnt downloaded from itunes so how do i get it on my apple tv?
Apple TV doesn't store any music. All you do is stream to it from your iTunes Library via Home Sharing.
Setting up Home Sharing for Apple TV (2nd & 3rd generation)
iTunes- Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
ok i understand that but i have home sharing set up and only five songs out of 200 or more show up on apple tv would this be because my router is blocking some of it? and should it stil be showing on apple tv even though its not purchased on itunes, yeah?
I have no idea. Don't use it much myself. I see no reason for a router to block anything unless you have a firewall enabled. If you do, then turn it off.
ok i think i need to turn off firewall. but what i mean is on your music on apple tv is all the music that your have on it purchased from itunes or is some of it downloaded from other websites?
There are no music files, etc. stored in the Apple TV. It has not storage device. Everything is streamed from your iTunes Library on the computer. For it all to work you must have iTunes running. If you quit iTunes, then all streaming stops.
If you have a hardware router that is using NAT and DHCP to provide local IP addresses to your connected devices, then you do not need a firewall. But if you have a firewall enabled, then you must open any ports required for home sharing to work with your Apple TV.
What format is the music?
