MacBook Pro Keeps Crashing

I have a MacBook Pro 13" which was brought in August 2011. Since upgrading to Mavricks my Mac has done nothing but crash sometimes upto 5 times a day. It occurs most often when pages is open and Safari. Is there any tests I can do to determine the source of the crashes. I really don't won't to send my Mac off as I am in my last year at Uni but this needs to be sorted as it is very fustrating.

Basically...

1) Make sure you have enough Free Hard Drive space for your Mac to Perform as expected...

Rule of thumb is about 15 to 20 GB

2) And adding more RAM is always a prudent move...

You can use these Links to check which RAM is suitable for your Mac...

If in the UK... Go to http://www.crucial.com

It's definitely the RAM. I upgraded from 4 to 8 as soon as i bought mine (late 2011) and sometimes the ram maxes out in mine since the upgrade to Mavericks mine. In the meantime you can download Memory Pro from the App Store. It helps you keep track of your RAM usage and it has a feature that will automatically free up RAM (user adjustable, but its easy) until you upgrade. Its cheap, easy and will keep your Mac from chashing at the worst possible time. I hope his helps.
