My apps have disappeared and I cannot re-download them/download new ones.

A lot of my apps have disappeared (iOS 7). At first, the only problem was that I couldn't download apps becaue whenever I tried to, it would say 'open' in the App Store but that wouldn't take me anywhere and the icon wouldn't be on my homescreen. After I turned on and off my iPhone to see if this would resolve the problem, I noticed that a lot of my apps had disappeared. I cannot re-download them as it says 'open' and not 'free'/'buy'. When I press open, nothing happens. What do I do?

I have this problem, too, on my iPad Air. It's showing up in the settings but disappeared on the homescreen. This happens after I update to OS 7.1.1 last night.

Apple, what's the solution to the fix?

I just solved the problem. Do a hard reboot by pressing down the power button and home button at the same time for about 10 seconds or until the screen turns black. Power back on. Go to App Store and select open again. It brought the disappeared app.
