Q: OS 10.6.8 is Lion, Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion ?

how do i tell if my OS X is Lion or Mountain Lion so I can download the right updated OS 10.7.2?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

10.6.8 is Snow Leopard. If the computer's incompatible with Mavericks but has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM, the next step is to buy a download code for Lion from the online Apple Store.

Click on the Apple Menu's, "About This Mac."

Snow Leopard is 10.6.8
Lion is 10.7.5
Mountain Lion is 10.8.5
Mavericks is 10.9.1
