Jan 12, 2014 5:51 PM in response to BDAquaby LEKOVISION,Yes, it has booted up and run for approx 10 minutes perhaps longer before freezing.
Sometimes it freezes immediately when loading up, and sometimes it gives me a few minutes and sometimes up to 10 or so.
It's very unpredictable.

Jan 12, 2014 8:30 PM in response to LEKOVISIONby BDAqua,Sure sounds like a heat issue, I suspect it's time to replace tge thermal paste between the CPUs & heatsinks.

Jan 20, 2014 1:17 PM in response to BDAquaby LEKOVISION,Thermal paste??
Is that a job that I could do myself, and if so, how?
Or...would that be a job best left to a computer repair place?
Thanks.

Jan 23, 2014 8:27 AM in response to BDAquaby LEKOVISION,UPDATE - So i backed up one of my other IDE drives and erased it, with the intention of installing Tiger onto it, and the error screen pops up again before i even get the chance to start installing the OS.
I was hoping that the Hard Drive was the issue, but that is not the case.

Jan 23, 2014 4:51 PM in response to BDAquaby LEKOVISION,The main HD in my G4, had already been erased and had a few attempts at Tiger being installed on it and then froze. I pulled that one out and had it fully zero'd and tested on an old G3 clamshell laptop running 10.3.5. (which is the only reason i still have it - for diagnostics and repairs when all else have failed).
One of the other 3 drives (another 100 gig), i backed up on my MacBook Pro, and then deleted using the partitions in Disk Utility on my MBP.
I then installed it physically back into my G4, and tried to install Tiger on it...but it froze.
I wanted to try on a completely different drive, as I thought perhaps the original 100gig drive was potentially part of, if not, the problem.

Jan 23, 2014 6:21 PM in response to LEKOVISIONby BDAqua,i backed up on my MacBook Pro, and then deleted using the partitions in Disk Utility on my MBP.
Did the MBP maybe format/partition it GUID, which won't work for installing on PPC Macs?
