Question: Target display mode - hdmi to mini display port

I want to use my imac 27 late 2009 as target display for my pc.

I have an HDMI to mini display port cable, which I'm trying to use for target display mode.

For some reason I can't activate target display mode by the shortcut cmd-f2. I don't know if it's the shortcut that is set up right or my cable.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Welcome to Apple Support Communities

Target Display mode only works with Mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt cables, not adapters. If you want to use your iMac as an external display for the PC, the PC must have a Mini DisplayPort port. For more information > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3924?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
