"What is tier 1 to tier 4 damage?"

Hi everyone! I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch. I took it to MacAuthority and they told me my logic board failed. Everything else on my computer is in great condition except for the logic board. They then told me I could pay them $700 to replace it or they could send it to Apple and they could fix it for a set price of about $350 plus tax. BUT my computer has a small dent on one of the corners (it has been there for about 3 years and never caused any trouble -- that is the only thing on my computer. MacAuthority said Apple might consider this to be a Tier 4 damage And could raise the price of it to $900. I don't want to risk sending it if it could be considered tier 4 when my computer is otherwise in great condition. Hard Drive, screen, fan, etc are all working well. No water damage at all. What do y'all think? Will Apple consider this tier 4 bc of the small dent??? I would have taken to an apple store but we don't have one in Chatt. Advice please!!

It sounds to me like MacAuthority is trying to scare you into letting them do it. Send it to Apple and make sure you ask that they give you a quote before repairing. If it's too much, don't do it. I doubt it'll be a problem though. If I were you I'd contact Apple and send it myself. I don't see why you need MacAuthority in the middle. Talk to Apple Support.

All that is irrelevant lingo. Tier 1 thru 4

other than logic board and monitor, everything else is cheap thrills.

however there is NO SUCH thing as computer "repair", its all parts replacement.

nobody has FIXED notebooks in ages, it isnt done.........period

1. remove bad

2. toss bad

3. install new

as for the dent ,live with it, replacing the entire chassis costs way too much for a cosmetic dent.

nobody "fixes" dents, its an entire chassis replacement.

😊

Even 18 years ago when I was working on laptops, nobody fixed things, it was all parts replacement.

now things are microscopically small, cant fix anything.
