mac mini doesnot recognize actual hd space
mac mini (maverick os) does not recognize external (two) hdds actual space capacities. the actual space is 3GB each hd, but mac mini reads each hd as 800GB per drive. please advise.

Did HDs come with their own encliosures or did you install them yourself in the enclosures?
i installed it in an enclosure made by mediasonic, raid and dual bay enclosure, esata & usb 3.0 with max hdd capacity of 3tb x 2.
thanks tom.
What does/did Disk utility say before formatting?
How are they formated?
Are they configured a RAID?
What does About This Mac say under USB?
disk utility recogizes the drives as 800GB, oem and formatted as mac journaled, not configured as RAID
This one
http://www.mediasonic.ca/product.php?id=1357292851
It says:
Supporting OS
Partition Format
Nothing about Mac journaled format
Also , I looked at the manaul.
http://www.mediasonic.ca/files/1374878453_0.pdf
and the Mac instructions were strange, they showed a 4 TB as 500 GB with Mac Externded.
The site says there is a forum for help. have you looked there?
