What is in the "Untitled" Folder in Final Cut Pro X?

Hello,

I have recently donwloaded FCPX on my Macbook Pro 15 inch with Retina display. I saw that my Mac internal Hard Drive was almost full, so I checked my files to see what the biggest file was.

I saw that it was a folder from FCPX called "Untitled". It has a logo on it, that looks like 4 boxes, with stars in them.

I deleted everything from "Untitled" via the program (Videos I already saved, and projects I don't need anymore.). And it said that in FCPX, "Untitled" was empty.

I close FCPX, and right clicked on "Untitled" and clicked "Get Info". I saw that the "Untitled" folder was still 154 GB!

I don't know what to do with this file. It's so huge, that I can't really do things I need, such as downloading an important file for work.

Do you know what's in the "Untitled" folder in FCPX? If you do, what can I do to reduce the size of "Untitled"?

I have a Hard Drive, but I don't know if I should move it there, because sometimes I edit on the go, and I don't have my Desktop hard drive.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Although it appears to be 154GB it is probably only a few megabytes in size . . . . if that . . . so if you delete the whole folder you will not save any space on your hard drive.

Why?

Version 10.1 does some very weird things when it updates your projects.

It moves the old ones into a new folder and creates another folder for the updated ones (it should be an ".fcpbundle" folder).

Although the old and the new seem to be around 154GB each, you only have one lot of 154GB on your hard drive and these 2 folders are simply referencing or pointing to it.

The "Untitled" is a Library - that is the new kind of FCP X document, used in 10.1.

A Library contains events and projects in it. You won't want to delete that - that is where your content is.

If you have updated from a previous version to 10.1, then, like Ian said, the Library may appear to be that size, but actually just be using "hard links" to avoid duplicating a lot of media from the old "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Projects" folders. In that case, you can delete these old folders.
