Problem opening itunes on macbook

I am trying to open itunes on my macbook but everytime I click on itunes store it just goes blank- I dont even get an alert. I have followed all steps to make sure everything is up to date regarding my operating system and itunes version- its all up to date. How do I fix this problem?
