I recently inherited an imac v 10.4.11, how do I go about restoring it to factory settings? I don't have any disks.

How do I restore to factory settings? I don't have any of the disks. This was a hand me down computer.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)
Is that an early intel-based iMac? coreduo/core2duo?
Or a similar looking iMac G5? powerPC
Or maybe is it an iMac G4?
(one with LED on chrome arm)
Or some older iMac G3 w/CRT?
Colors/all-in-one. limited upgrades.
see pictures - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2452 -find serial number.
If you can identify the exact model of the iMac, that may be helpful.
Various build year models have different hardware, & upgrade limits.
So that could be an older powerPC iMac G4 with 15/17/20" LED, or
maybe a powerPC iMac G5 with 17/20" display, looks like early intel.
Or it could be an early intel-based iMac, some first ones had Tiger.
If you have found the serial number, that can help lookup info:

Consider Mactracker http://mactracker.ca for download info database.
You may be able to get a restore Tiger 10.4.x or Leopard 10.5 disc (or
both) for iMac once you get the serial number & other info, from a source
at Apple support, cited on the following link, & are hard to get. (for a fee.)
{this found in ASC thread about resolving internet issue}
Hopefully this helps somewhat.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
If you are in the US call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
